Delhi Capitals are just extending their hot streak in the IPL 2025, winning 3 consecutive matches on the trot. They remain the only team to be undefeated in the tournament. After a low-key return in the last 3 seasons, Delhi Capitals seems to have hit the purple patch this year and collected a full 6 points.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Squad Analysis

Recent form: Won, Lost, Won, Won, Lost

Probable Playing XI: Phil Salt, Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal / Suyash Sharma, Rajat Patidar (c), Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Tim David, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood, Yash Dayal.

The 2025 Indian Premier League is special for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in many ways, as they ended two of the long-lasting winning droughts at Chepauk and Wankhede after 17 years and 10 years, respectively. More importantly, all of the RCB’s wins this season have come away from home as they are feeling more comfortable away than at home. Interestingly, their only loss has come at home at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, where they got beaten thoroughly by 8 wickets at the hands of the Gujarat Titans.

All the credit goes to their collective batting efforts, with everyone in the top 7 making decisive contributions when it mattered. Another important aspect is the intent, as they are never afraid of taking risks even when the wickets are crumbling. The scores of 177 for 3, 196 for 7, 169 for 8 and 221 for 5 sum up their positive approach in the league. Run-machine Virat Kohli is among the runs for the franchise this season with 164 runs, followed by skipper Rajat Patidar (161) and Phil Salt (106).

Their diversified bowling attack equally deserves appreciation, led by pace spearheads Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood. One of their retention, Yash Dayal and new recruit Krunal Pandya are making a difference in the middle and death overs. The latter has caught the attention by employing well-directed bouncers that have fetched him wickets against Mumbai Indians where he returned with the figures of 4 for 45. Liam Livingstone, Rasikh Salam, and Suyash Sharma have made small contributions. The current RCB squad is one of the strongest and most accomplished in all of the 18 years.

They feel more pressure at home as they return for their 5th fixture on Thursday. Their win record at home isn’t that great over the years, accounting for just 40 percent.

Delhi Capitals Squad Analysis

Recent form: Won, Won, Won, Won, Lost

Probable Playing XI: Jake Fraser McGurk, Faf du Plessis / Sameer Rizvi, Abishek Porel, KL Rahul (wk), Axar Patel (c), Tristan Stubbs, Ashutosh Sharma / Mukesh Kumar, Vipraj Nigam, Mitchell Starc, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mohit Sharma.

Delhi Capitals’ strategy to stick with the Indian core in the coaching and leadership roles has already paid them rewards, as the franchise made a commanding start to the 2025 Indian Premier League, pocketing a full 6 points from 3 matches played. They got off the mark with a narrow one-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants, thanks to Ashutosh Sharma’s rescue act of 66* from 31 balls. In the follow-ups, they easily edge past Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings by 7 wickets and 25 runs, respectively.

Mitchell Starc’s maiden 5-fer in the IPL, Kuldeep Yadav’s 3-wicket haul, and later collective batting efforts handed them a convincing victory over last season’s runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad with 24 balls to spare. KL Rahul set the stage on fire with a well-measured 77 from 51 against Chennai Super Kings that propelled them to 183 for 6. It was Vipraj Nigam who made the headlines later with the ball, picking up 2 wickets to limit Super Kings to 158 for 5. Currently, they are placed at the pole position in the standings.

The Capitals look so secure in every department, and beating them isn’t going to be an easy option for the opposition. Proteas batter, Faf du Plessis, who missed the last game against Chennai Super Kings due to a niggle is expected to feature against his former side Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Thursday. Most of their players are well aware of the conditions of Bengaluru and the side is fully confident of achieving a win against the spirited Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Delhi Capitals, IPL 2025 – Match 24 Pitch Report

It’s a small venue where batters will enjoy the conditions, and scoring more than 8 runs an over isn’t that difficult. That said, there will be assistance for the seamers early on. Defending runs in the second half is one of the toughest tasks for the bowling side, given the shorter boundaries and lightning-quick outfield.

Is the RCB 2025 Team strong?

The current RCB team competing in the 2025 Indian Premier League is by far the strongest lineup the franchise has ever fielded in its 18 seasons. It is a well-balanced squad that appears more cohesive across all areas. Batting extends to No.8, and even the bowling department is filled with experienced craftsmen. In the ongoing season, the franchise has won 3 of their 4 matches played.

Who won more, RCB or DC?

So far in the history of IPL, RCB and DC have met each other 31 times, where the former has won 18 of those, while the latter emerged on top on 11 occasions.

Top Run-Scorer Prediction: Virat Kohli

World-class batter Virat Kohli is in top form in the league and has scored the most runs for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, accounting for 164 runs in 4 matches at a strike rate of 143.85. He has hit 2 half-centuries with a top score of 67. We predict he is going to score more runs in the RCB vs DC IPL game.

Top Wicket-Taker Prediction: Mitchell Starc

Mitchell Starc has already begun the wicket-hunting process in the IPL 2025, picking up 9 wickets in 3 matches with the best figures of 5 for 35. He is executing excellent line and lengths and is keen to extend a similar approach in the upcoming game against RCB. In our IPL Prediction 2025, we go with Starc to pick more wickets in the RCB vs DC contest.

RCB vs DC IPL 2025 Winner Prediction:

Both RCB and DC are in scintillating form, making an outstanding start to the IPL 2025. RCB has won 3 of the 4 matches played, whereas DC maintains a 100 percent win record, scripting 3 consecutive wins. RCB doesn’t boast a strong home record and we go with DC to win the contest on Thursday.

IPL 2025 Prediction – Kolkata Knight Riders vs Sunrisers Hyderabad

IPL 2025: Kolkata Knight Riders vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Prediction

Kolkata Knight Riders will compete against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 15th cricket match of the 2025 Indian Premier League on Thursday. KKR vs SRH will be the 2nd game to be played at the Eden Gardens in IPL 2025. Both teams are on the back foot at the start of the competition, having managed a solitary win from their respective 3 matches.

Kolkata Knight Riders, who made a stunning comeback with an 8-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals, suffered a thrashing 8-wicket defeat at the hands of Mumbai Indians to be pushed down to the bottom of the table. In contrast, Sunrisers Hyderabad, who beat Rajasthan Royals by 44 runs during their IPL 2025 opener, endured tough outcomes in the next two matches, where they went down by 5 wickets and 7 wickets, respectively, against Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals.

Kolkata Knight Riders vs Sunrisers Hyderabad is expected to be a mouth-watering clash, with the surface at the Eden Gardens tailor-made for batting. Check our analysis for both squads before putting your money on IPL online betting. Click to check IPL betting tips for IPL betting online.

Kolkata Knight Riders Squad Analysis

Recent Form: Lost, Won, Lost, Won, Won

Probable Playing XI: Quinton de Kock (wk), Sunil Narine, Ajinkya Rahane (c), Angkrish Raghuvanshi / Vaibhav Arora, Venkatesh Iyer, Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Ramandeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakravarthy, Anrich Nortje / Spencer Johnson.

Kolkata Knight Riders are looking for a revival in their upcoming fixture where they host last season’s runners-up, Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday. Whenever their batters have fired, Kolkata Knight Riders have always come on top and it was evident during their victory against Rajasthan Royals, where they chased down 151 with 15 balls left and 2 wickets in hand.

Quinton de Kock made his redemption in some style with an unbeaten 97* from 61 balls. However, during their losses against the Royal Challengers and Mumbai Indians, they failed to fire as a unit and could only make 174 for 8 and 116 all out, respectively.

It’s going to be a massive litmus test for new franchise skipper Ajinkya Rahane, who needs to step up with the bat and also needs to regroup the side. He will be expecting improved performances from their big buys, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, and Venkatesh Iyer. They lack depth in their Indian fast bowling line-up that only has Harshit Rana, Vaibhav Arora, and Chetan Sakariya.

Their spin attack looks versatile, having seasoned campaigners Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy, who are highly deceptive and, on their day will make the batters dance. With minimal bowling resources, they are doing well and expect their well-oiled batting line-up to make a statement in the coming matches.

The squad is filled with class and attacking batters, which is a good blend to have in the shortest format.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Squad Analysis:

Recent Form: Lost, Lost, Won, Lost, Won

Probable Playing XI: Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head / Wiaan Mulder, Ishan Kishan, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Aniket Verma, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Abhinav Manohar, Pat Cummins (c), Harshal Patel, Mohammed Shami, Zeeshan Ansari.

Not the right kind of start, Sunrisers Hyderabad had hoped for at the beginning of the 2025 Indian Premier League. Pat Cummins and his side, managed to collect a mere 2 points from their first 3 matches and positioned 8th in the standings.

They got off the mark with their usual batting masterclass, posting 286 for 6 against Rajasthan Royals, the second-best score in IPL history, and ended up winning the game. Orange Army also holds the highest team total (287), which came against Royal Challengers Bengaluru last season.

Their downhill performances started when they got thrashed badly at the hands of Lucknow Super Giants by 5 wickets, where they failed to defend 190. It went from bad to worse when they lost to Delhi Capitals by 7 wickets in the follow-up. Rookie batter Aniket Verma’s dynamic show (74 from 41 balls) made the headlines, yet they managed 163 all out, their lowest score in the 2025 Indian Premier League. In the defense, leg spinner Zeeshan Ansari’s spell caught the attention, who picked up 3 wickets on his IPL debut.

The form of their bowlers is a worrying sign. Apart from Harshal Patel (8.77), the rest of the bowlers have gone at more than 10 runs an over.

Looking at their batting, their guns, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Nitish Kumar Reddy need to level up their standards.

What are the odds for KKR vs SRH?

The IPL betting odds for KKR vs SRH are 2.08 for KKR to win and 1.75 for SRH to win.

How many matches did KKR win against SRH?

KKR and SRH have met each other 28 times in IPL, with KKR holding the upper hand with 18 wins. SRH emerged victorious on 9 occasions.

Top Run-Scorer Prediction: Travis Head

Travis Head is among the runs for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2025 Indian Premier League, scoring 136 runs in 3 matches at an average of 45.33 with a strike rate of 191.54. He has hit only one half-century so far and is hungry to score big runs. The fast-paced Eden Gardens’ surface will be ideal for his style of play, and the Aussie Southpaw will look to encash most of the opportunity. He is expected to score more runs in the KKR vs SRH IPL 2025 game on Thursday.

Top Wicket-Taker Prediction: Varun Chakravarthy

The 33-year-old mystery spinner from Tamil Nadu has been the talk of the town at the moment, ever since he landed in India’s Champions Trophy squad that triumphed in Dubai last month. Varun Chakravarthy has been the lead spinner for Kolkata Knight Riders and has been consistent for the franchise over the years.

He has bamboozled the batters with his unique mystery spin and put on a show in the ongoing IPL 2025. In 3 matches, he bagged 3 wickets at an economy of 6.54 with the best figures of 2 for 17. We predict Varun Chakravarthy to pick more wickets in the Kolkata Knight Riders vs Sunrisers Hyderabad game.

KKR vs SRH IPL 2025 Winner Prediction:

Both teams are evenly matched on paper, with prolific hitters in their lineups. Historically, the surface at Eden Gardens is not favorable for spin, so the batters are expected to score more runs than usual. Kolkata Knight Riders will enjoy home comfort and are expected to win this match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. For more IPL 2025 predictions, check out our IPL betting tips on GUGOBET.

IPL 2025: MI vs CSK Prediction

IPL 2025: Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings Prediction

In the heavyweight clash, Mumbai Indians will go one-on-one against Chennai Super Kings in the 3rd match of the IPL 2025 on March 23rd at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai. Both teams witnessed contrasting outcomes in the last edition of the IPL, where Mumbai Indians endured their 2nd worst result in 3 years by finishing last. In contrast, Chennai Super Kings missed the Playoff qualification by the barest of margins and came 5th in the standings.

Mumbai Indians have retained their core players, who are highly worthy in terms of their potential and have won many matches for the side. The list includes Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma and Tilak Varma. Hardik Pandya won’t be taking part in this crucial match against Chennai Super Kings, as he was handed a one-game ban for his team’s slower over-rate in their last league match in IPL 2024. Suryakumar Yadav, who is the current skipper of the Indian T20I side, is likely to take charge of the team.

Coming to Chennai Super Kings, it felt like they brought the rule to retain MS Dhoni as an uncapped Player, which says an Indian player will be considered uncapped if they have not participated in any International match or held a BCCI central contract within the last five years. The other four players who have been retained by the franchise are Ruturaj Gaikwad, Matheesha Pathirana, Shivam Dube, and Ravindra Jadeja.

MI vs CSK contest will serve the perfect feast for the fans as both teams are evenly matched on paper.

The Mumbai Indians have undergone a complete overhaul for the upcoming season following their disastrous performance last year. Off-the-field issues have become a huge burden regarding the Hardik Pandya’s captaincy saga, which in turn, didn’t get the result they wanted. Along with Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra, who were bought back into the team in the auction held at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, last year.

Pitch Report for Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings, IPL 2025, Match 3

The surface generally offers a good amount of purchase for the spinners, and at the same time, the batters, if they hang in there for long, can post good scores on the board. The wicket here at the Chepauk tends to slow down in the latter half, hence, it would be a wise option to field first here.

The Afghan chinaman was previously part of Gujarat Titans in the last 2 seasons, picking up 24 wickets in 23 matches at an economy of 8.03. The wicket here at the Chepauk is ideal for his style of bowling. Hence, in our IPL Prediction 2025, we pick him to get more wickets in the MI vs CSK game.

IPL 2025 Auction Shocks

IPL Auction 2025 Shocks

The most anticipated IPL mega auction 2025 ended here in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on November 25th with franchises buying the players they wanted, however, some of them weren’t happy as they didn’t get what they deserved. Most teams got the right combinations, while some of them had to settle for less.

This edition of the auction was a record breaker as it saw two of the most expensive players in IPL history. Mitchell Starc, who previously held the record for the highest capped player in history with Rs 24.75 crore was overtaken by Mumbai batter Shreyas Iyer first, who was brought by Punjab Kings for a sum of a whopping Rs 26.75 crore, within a few minutes, the record was shattered as Lucknow Super Giants quoted Rs 27 crore to rope in the star wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant.

There is some inside reason behind, with BCCI opting to stage the mega auction in Saudi Arabia, the country doesn’t have a rich cricketing fan base nor a culture of the sport. What made the big bosses take the decision is still a question mark. However, the fans from the sub-continent had a double dhamaka on the 25th of November, who had witnessed a couple of milestones with India clinching the historical Test win at the Optus Stadium in Perth, beating the hosts Australia and also seeing their favourite cricketers in the IPL auction.

Here at GUGOBET, we discuss the IPL 2025 mega auction shocks both in terms of their highest-priced tags and also about the unsold players. Our cricket platform is the best IPL betting app to place your bids. You can consider the points mentioned to bet on IPL 2025 which gets underway from March 14th and will run till May 25th.

IPL Mega Auction 2025 Shocks

Players with overvalued price tags

1. Venkatesh Iyer ( sold to Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 23.75 crore)

The talented all-rounder from Madhya Pradesh had a base price of Rs 2 crore and no one would expect him to go for a whopping price of 23.75 crore, who was eventually bought by Kolkata Knight Riders after an intense battle with Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The 29-year-old will head back to his same franchise, where he represented in the previous 4 editions, scoring 1326 runs and picking up 3 wickets across 51 matches. He boasts a strike rate of 137.12 and is also one of the three players to score a century for the franchise in the IPL.

2. Phil Salt ( sold to Royal Challengers Bengaluru for Rs 11.5 crore)

Phil Salt has strong credentials as a wicket-keeper batter, who had a stellar run for England at the highest level over the last year. Salt, who walked in as a replacement for his countryman Jason Roy at Kolkata Knight Riders at the last minute in the IPL 2024 season for a price of Rs.1.5 crore, now went 10 times to his price in the IPL 2025 auction as Royal Challengers Bengaluru picked him for a handsome amount of Rs 11.5 crore.

3. Jake Fraser McGurk (sold to Delhi Capitals for Rs 9 crore)

Jake Fraser McGurk joined Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2024 season as a replacement for South African seamer Lungi Ngidi. The talented right-hand batter from Australia, announced his arrival grandly, scoring 330 runs in 9 innings at an average of 36.66 with the best score of 84. That was enough for the Delhi-based franchise to use the RTM for the youngster for a price of exactly Rs 9 crore in the IPL 2025 auction.

4. Vaibhav Suryavanshi (sold to Rajasthan Royals for Rs 1.1 crore)

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who was not even born when the IPL was incepted in the year 2008, became the youngest player (13 years) to get picked in the IPL 2025 auction for a price of Rs 1.1 crore. The southpaw, who already represented India A had kept the base price of Rs 30 Lakh and attracted interest from Delhi Capitals before going to Rajasthan Royals in the end.

Players with undervalued price tags

1. Faf du Plessis (sold to Delhi Capitals for Rs 2 crore)

It left everyone in a shock when the former South African skipper, Faf du Plessis was sold to Delhi Capitals at his base price of Rs 2 crore. Even it came as a surprise for the Delhi camp, who never imagined getting a player of Faf’s calibre at this price, who brings vast experience and leadership qualities into the side. He was the second leading run-scorer for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2024, accumulating 438 runs in 15 innings at a strike rate of 161.62. Maybe the ageing factor has also played a part in the price dip for Faf, who turned 40 in July this year.

2. Moeen Ali (sold to Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 2 crore)

When Moeen Ali’s name came into the auction on the second day, every team had almost strengthened their balance as a result, the former English all-rounder could only attract a price of Rs 2 crore by Kolkata Knight Riders. Retiring from International cricket and not in his prime form may be the reason for getting a lower price tag.

3. Glenn Maxwell (sold to Punjab Kings for Rs 4.2 crore)

Glenn Maxwell had at least gotten close to Rs 10 crore in the IPL 2025 auction, but a dip in his form over the years both at the International level and also in the IPL played a part in receiving a lower amount. He found interest from Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings, before getting sold to Punjab Kings at Rs 4.2 crore, the same franchise he was part of between 2014-2017 and also in the 2020 edition.

Which Player is not sold in the IPL 2025 auction?

1. David Warner

Gotta feel sad for David Warner, who went unsold in the IPL 2025 auction. He didn’t have the best of outings in the IPL 2024, where he managed 168 runs in 8 innings at an average of 21. In Warner’s case, it feels quite different, not only a poor form but a non-cricketing reason played a part in not getting picked.

2. Prithvi Shaw

Once termed as the next generation superstar and also the next Sachin Tendulkar, Prithvi Shaw has seen a downfall in his seven years of professional cricketing career. He made his IPL debut in 2018 and so far gathered 1892 runs in 79 innings at an average of 23.94. Shaw was in the news for different reasons outside the cricket ground and fitness concerns are the reasons for getting unsold in the IPL 2025 auction.

3. Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur has seen his worst in the IPL 2024 for Chennai Super Kings, where he just managed to bag 5 wickets in 9 matches at an expensive economy of 9.75. The rise of impact player rule and fewer requirements of bowling all-rounders in the current IPL trend were the reasons behind Thakur remaining unsold in the IPL 2025 auction.

Who is the most expensive player in IPL?

Rishabh Pant went down as the most expensive player in the history of IPL, who was bought for Rs 27 crore by Lucknow Super Giants. The teams are fully packed with their side for the IPL 2025, giving utmost priority to the auction. It will be interesting how well the players will perform.

Conclusion

The IPL auction 2025 shocked the cricketing world in terms of players getting sold more than they deserve and even most of them failed to attract a bid and is about to get interesting this season. IPL Auciton 2025 – Top Picks

It was shopping time in the beautiful city of Jeddah as the IPL franchises went on to shape their teams for the upcoming IPL 2025 season at the IPL 2025 mega auction and spent hundreds of crores. A lot of historic buys were made over two days, and the record for the highest-paid player in the auction history was also broken. Let us look at the top six buys made by the team owners at the IPL Auction 2025 on the best IPL betting app.

Rishabh Pant (Lucknow Super Giants)

The swashbuckling southpaw who entered the auction after being released by the Delhi Capitals made history by being the highest-paid player in the history of the Indian Premier League. This was not at all surprising that Pant was the most expensive player, although the surprising fact was that he was bought by the Lucknow Super Giants for such big money.

The bidding war ended at INR 20.75 crores for Pant when Delhi Capitals said that they would exercise their RTM card, and as per the new rule, LSG was asked to make their final offer. The final offer was so huge that Delhi’s pocket didn’t allow it, and LSG were successful in buying the player.

Pant will most likely captain the Lucknow team and will be their marquee player. Batting at number 3/4 in the team, he will be an integral part of that middle order along with Nicholas Pooran and David Miller.

Shreyas Iyer (Punjab Kings)

The speculations before the auction began were that Shreyas Iyer would cross the INR 20 crore barrier and be one of the most expensive players in the history of the Indian Premier League. All those speculations came true as, for a brief while before Pant was sold to LSG, Shreyas Iyer was the most expensive player in history, as Punjab Kings bought him for INR 26.75 crores, breaking the previous record of Mitchell Starc.

Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings seemed to be the front-runners in getting the services of Shreyas Iyer, where Punjab was successful in beating Delhi courtesy of their huge purse amount left before the auction began.

After winning the IPL 2024 as a captain with the KKR franchise, Iyer would like to replicate it with Punjab this time around. He, in all likelihood, is going to be the captain of the team and play as a batter in the number 3 position in the tournament.

Venkatesh Iyer (Kolkata Knight Riders)

The most shocking name on this list is Venkatesh Iyer, who forced his former team, Kolkata Knight Riders, to break the bank for him as they indulged in an intense bidding war with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Venkatesh Iyer was sold for INR 23.75 crores, making him the third most expensive player to be sold in the IPL auction 2025.

The performance of Iyer in the previous edition of the IPL was outstanding as he also scored a quickfire century. He will most certainly be among the leadership plans of the Kolkata Knight Riders, and it would not be a huge deal if he becomes the leader of the side and Rinku Singh becomes the vice-captain.

Venkatesh Iyer is a proper all-rounder who can bat as a floater anywhere in the team and can also bowl medium pace if required. His inclusion in the KKR team was almost a necessity for them to defend the IPL title.

Arshdeep Singh (Punjab Kings)

The left-arm quick who was released by the Punjab Kings will be a part of their team in the IPL 2025 season as he was bought back by the Punjab management using the RTM card. The bidding war for him ended at INR 15.75 crores, which was won by SRH. PBKS were asked if they would use RTM, and they said yes without a second thought. SRH’s final offer was INR 18 crores, which Punjab was happy to give to this world-class pacer.

Arshdeep will be the leader of the bowling attack at PBKS this season and will have a lot of responsibility as a leader of the pack. This price was expected for him as he is one of the most premium fast bowlers in T20 cricket and can bowl in any phase of the match with proper control and less economy.

Yuzvendra Chahal (Punjab Kings)

Having attracted bids from quite a few teams in the auction, Yuzvendra Chahal became the highest-ever-paid spinner in the history of the IPL. Chahal’s former teams, Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, tried their level best to bring him back, but the battle was won by the Punjab Kings, who are now looking like a lethal team with a brilliant bowling attack.

The bidding war that began at INR 2 crores for Chahal ended at INR 18 crores when Rajasthan finally backed out and Punjab was able to bag their player. Everyone was expecting RCB to go harder to buy back Chahal and play him at the Chinnaswamy, but it did not happen. Chahal being sold for INR 18 crores is worth every penny with the kind of quality and experience he brings to any team.

Jos Buttler (Gujarat Titans)

Having been one of their top weaknesses last season, the Gujarat Titans were desperately in need of a solid, gun opener, and as soon as they saw Jos Buttler was on the market, Ashish Nehra and the whole team management laid their eyes on him. The Gujarat team paid a whopping sum of INR 14.75 crores to bag the player who perfectly fits into their plans.

Buttler will play as an opener in the team and will also keep wickets. It will be interesting to see how he performs this year, as he did not have a great season last time around. One mistake RR made was not retaining Jos Buttler, and they have paid a heavy price for it now.

The most heartwarming thing to see in the auction was the franchises giving importance to Indian players and not shying away from writing big checks, rightly justifying the name “Indian Premier League.” The tournament is scheduled to begin in March, and you can bet on IPL on our website and the GUGOBET IPL betting app.

With Heinrich Klaasen as the highest-paid retention across the league, SRH has taken a bold approach by investing in international players. Retaining three overseas players points to their reliance on international experience, setting up a balanced mix of seasoned and emerging talent.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

  • Retained Players: Ruturaj Gaikwad (INR 18 crore), Ravindra Jadeja (INR 18 crore), Matheesha Pathirana (INR 13 crore), Shivam Dube (INR 12 crore), MS Dhoni (INR 4 crore)
  • Purse Remaining: INR 55 crore
  • Big Players Not Retained: Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Mahesh Theekshana, Tushar Deshpande

CSK’s strategic retention of MS Dhoni as an uncapped player allows them to save funds while maintaining leadership continuity. Retaining both experience and young talent, CSK is poised for a balanced squad heading into the auction.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)

  • Retained Players: Virat Kohli (INR 21 crore), Rajat Patidar (INR 11 crore), Yash Dayal (INR 5 crore)
  • Purse Remaining: INR 83 crore
  • Big Players Not Retained: Glenn Maxwell, Mohammed Siraj, Faf du Plessis, Cameron Green

With only three players retained, RCB has ample funds for a significant rebuild. Virat Kohli remains their top retention, keeping fans speculating about his role as captain. RCB is likely to use its large purse for targeted acquisitions to strengthen both batting and bowling.

Delhi Capitals (DC)

  • Retained Players: Axar Patel (INR 16.50 crore), Kuldeep Yadav (INR 13.25 crore), Tristan Stubbs (INR 10 crore), Abishek Porel (INR 4 crore)
  • Purse Remaining: INR 73 crore
  • Big Players Not Retained: Rishabh Pant, David Warner, Anrich Nortje

The absence of Rishabh Pant signals a new leadership search for DC, while retaining Axar and Kuldeep emphasizes a spin-heavy strategy. With a strong remaining budget, DC has the freedom to target top-tier batsmen and a new captain at the auction.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

  • Retained Players: Rinku Singh (INR 13 crore), Varun Chakravarthy (INR 12 crore), Sunil Narine (INR 12 crore), Andre Russell (INR 12 crore), Harshit Rana (INR 4 crore), Ramandeep Singh (INR 4 crore)
  • Purse Remaining: INR 51 crore
  • Big Players Not Retained: Shreyas Iyer, Mitchell Starc, Phil Salt, Venkatesh Iyer, Nitish Rana

KKR has invested in long-term performers like Russell and Narine. With the release of Shreyas Iyer and Starc, KKR signals a shift in focus towards stability in both batting and bowling, while maintaining ample funds for additional depth.

Rajasthan Royals (RR)

  • Retained Players: Sanju Samson (INR 18 crore), Yashasvi Jaiswal (INR 18 crore), Riyan Parag (INR 14 crore), Dhruv Jurel (INR 14 crore), Shimron Hetmyer (INR 11 crore), Sandeep Sharma (INR 4 crore)
  • Purse Remaining: INR 41 crore
  • Big Players Not Retained: Yuzvendra Chahal, Jos Buttler, R Ashwin

Rajasthan’s retention reflected a batting-heavy approach, with only one bowler retained. The team will likely focus on reinforcing their bowling unit at the auction, aiming to balance their squad composition effectively.

Gujarat Titans (GT)

  • Retained Players: Rashid Khan (INR 18 crore), Shubman Gill (INR 16.50 crore), Sai Sudharsan (INR 8.50 crore), Rahul Tewatia (INR 4 crore), Shahrukh Khan (INR 4 crore)
  • Purse Remaining: INR 69 crore
  • Big Players Not Retained: Mohammed Shami, David Miller

GT has opted for all-rounders and young talent, indicating a focus on flexibility within the team. Without Mohammed Shami, their pace attack remains open for strengthening, and they have a substantial budget to address this at the auction.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)

  • Retained Players: Nicholas Pooran (INR 21 crore), Ravi Bishnoi (INR 11 crore), Mayank Yadav (INR 11 crore), Mohsin Khan (INR 4 crore), Ayush Badoni (INR 4 crore)
  • Purse Remaining: INR 69 crore
  • Big Players Not Retained: KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, Quinton de Kock, Krunal Pandya

With KL Rahul out of the mix, LSG will look for a new captain in the 2025 season. Pooran’s high retention cost underscores his role as a key finisher. The remaining purse provides flexibility for LSG to address leadership and all-rounder roles in the auction.

Punjab Kings (PBKS)

  • Retained Players: Shashank Singh (INR 5.5 crore), Prabhsimran Singh (INR 4 crore)
  • Purse Remaining: INR 110.5 crore
  • Big Players Not Retained: Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Sam Curran, Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone, Kagiso Rabada

PBKS enters the auction with the largest remaining budget, reflecting a complete overhaul strategy. With only two retained players, they have immense flexibility to rebuild their team, target marquee players, and potentially secure a strong captain.

When Will The IPL Auction 2025 Happen?

With the IPL 2025 retention deadline now behind us, all eyes are on the upcoming IPL Mega Auction, where all 10 IPL teams will work to finalize their squads for the new season.

The 2025 Mega Auction will be a two-day event, similar to the one held in 2022. Traditionally, the mega auction took place in February in 2022, while the following auctions in 2023 and 2024 were held in December. However, the IPL 2025 Auction has been moved up to November 2024. Although the exact dates haven’t been officially confirmed, reports suggest the auction will likely happen in the last week of November. Initial reports pointed to November 23 and 24, with some speculating November 30 as a possible date. Currently, the most recent information suggests that the auction will take place on November 24 and 25.

Where Will The IPL Auction 2025 Take Place?

The IPL 2025 Mega Auction is set to take place at an international venue, following the trend of hosting the IPL auction 2025 outside India, which began with the 2024 auction in Dubai. While previous auctions were held in locations like Bengaluru, Kerala, and the UAE, the upcoming mega auction for 2025 is also expected to be held abroad. Singapore, London, and Dubai were initially considered, but recent reports indicate that Riyadh in Saudi Arabia is likely to be the chosen location for the IPL auction 2025.

How Many Players Are Retained In The IPL Mega Auction 2025?

Ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, each of the 10 franchises has retained a select number of players from their existing squads. The retention counts are as follows:

  • Mumbai Indians (MI): 5 players
  • Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH): 5 players
  • Chennai Super Kings (CSK): 5 players
  • Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB): 3 players
  • Delhi Capitals (DC): 4 players
  • Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR): 6 players
  • Rajasthan Royals (RR): 6 players
  • Gujarat Titans (GT): 5 players
  • Lucknow Super Giants (LSG): 5 players
  • Punjab Kings (PBKS): 2 players

In total, 46 players have been retained across all franchises. This strategic retention allows teams to maintain a core group of players while providing flexibility to strengthen their squads during the upcoming auction.

Will Dhoni Play IPL 2025

Yes, MS Dhoni is set to play in the IPL 2025 season. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have retained him as an uncapped player for INR 4 crore, utilizing a revived rule that allows Indian players who haven’t played international cricket in the last five years to be considered uncapped. This strategic move enables CSK to retain their iconic leader while optimizing their budget for the upcoming season.

Conclusion

In summary, the IPL 2025 Mega Auction is poised to be a transformative event as franchises aim to craft squads capable of competing at the highest level. The retention strategies adopted by each team highlight a balanced mix of securing veteran players and grooming emerging talent. Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad have retained key players such as Jasprit Bumrah and Heinrich Klaasen, with SRH making a bold move by securing the league’s highest-paid retention. Teams like Chennai Super Kings are leveraging innovative retention approaches, such as CSK’s strategic move to retain MS Dhoni as an uncapped player, which allowed them to manage their budget more efficiently. This retention phase underscores the teams’ commitment to retaining a strong core while leaving space to strengthen critical areas at the auction.

The auction, anticipated on November 24 and 25 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, marks an exciting shift for the league as it continues to explore international venues. Teams like Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings, with higher remaining budgets, are in a strong position to make marquee additions, while others like Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders will look to reinforce specific areas, particularly in their bowling lineup. This year’s auction will not only shape team dynamics for the coming season but will also set the stage for rivalries, with each franchise vying to secure the talent needed for a successful campaign. Fans worldwide can anticipate an exhilarating season ahead, fueled by fresh talent, revamped squads, and strategic investments as franchises work to perfect their line-ups.

IPL 2025 Auction Updates

IPL 2025 Mega Auction Updates

It has not even been six months since we saw the Knight Riders from Kolkata lift the elusive IPL 2024 trophy, and the hype for the IPL 2025 season has already started to build up. The major reason for this buzz and excitement is the IPL 2025 mega auction, which is going to be conducted before the IPL 2025 season. We will see a lot of shuffling between the teams to create a level playing field for all ten franchises.

BCCI has released the most-awaited guidelines for the IPL auction 2025, and there is a lot of exciting information regarding the auction dynamics. We are here to walk you through all the stuff, starting with the rules and regulations of the IPL mega auction 2025, the number of retentions available, the salary cap, and what could be the top retention preferences for all the franchises.

How many retentions are allowed?

Under the new rules and regulations about the IPL 2025 mega auction, each franchise can have a maximum of six retentions. There is no minimum limit, but if a franchise decides to release its whole squad, it will be in a lot of trouble before the auction as it will have to build the team from scratch.

These six allowed retentions can be completed via retaining the players or using the Right to Match (RTM) card, and there is no cap on the usage of either of the retention methods. A franchise can retain a maximum of five capped players, which includes both Indian and overseas players. A cap of two has been set by the IPL Governing Council on the retention of uncapped Indian players.

Another interesting rule introduced by the governing council is regarding the overseas players. Over the years, we have seen a lot of foreign players ditching their IPL teams at the very last minute, leaving them with no time to change their strategies. As a result, some new conditions have been set by the committee where huge penalties will be put on such players.

The first condition is that if an overseas player fails to register himself for the mega auction, he will be ineligible to register himself for the following year’s player auction. So, if an overseas player does not register himself for the 2025 auction, he will not be able to take part in the IPL 2026 player auction.

Another condition is that if an overseas player gets sold in the auction and makes himself unavailable at the last minute for the IPL season, he will not be able to be a part of the Indian Premier League for the next two years. These strict rules will help in regulating the problem of overseas players not coming to play at the last minute.

We feel that the number set by the committee for retention is good, as the franchises that had a good squad will have something to save from it, whereas the teams that want to change their structure will also have an opportunity to build a good squad. A lot of planning and plotting will be required by the ten IPL teams to announce these retentions before October 31, 2024, which is the deadline.

What are the changes in the salary cap of the players?

Some interesting revelations have been made by BCCI as far as the salary cap of the players is concerned. The most important announcement is that the players who are a part of the playing 11 (including the impact player) will receive a match fee of INR 7.5 lakhs per match from the franchise over and above their contracted amount. This will be a huge boost to the players’ confidence and commitment towards winning matches for their team.

The auction purse, which was INR 110 crores for the last season, has been increased to INR 120 crores this time around. The franchises will have the purse to make that extra bid for players they want in their team. A total of INR 146 crores will be the total salary cap for franchises, which will include auction purses, incremental performance pay, and match fees for the players.

The salary slabs for retaining the players set by the BCCI are as follows:

Retained Player Player Value
Player 1 INR 18 crores
Player 2 INR 14 crores
Player 3 INR 11 crores
Player 4 INR 18 crores
Player 5 INR 14 crores
Uncapped Player(s) INR 4 cores

What is the new RTM rule?

By matching the amount at which the player is sold in the auction, the franchise can purchase a player who was on their roster the previous season with the RTM card. In past RTM card mega auctions, after a player was deemed sold, the auctioneer would enquire with the team to which the player had been assigned the previous season if they would like to purchase him back; if they would, they would be able to acquire the player for the sum of the winning price.

The franchise with the highest bid will have one more chance to raise its bid at the following auction, provided the prior franchise wishes to use the RTM card. To acquire the player in that scenario, the original team would have to use the RTM card to match that bid and avail the services of that player for the upcoming IPL season.

For example, Delhi Capitals decided to release Axar Patel, who went into the auction and was sold to Mumbai Indians for INR 11 crores. Now, the Delhi team will have an option to use the RTM card to keep Axar on their roster. Suppose the Delhi Capitals exercise their RTM card and decide to keep Axar Patel in their squad. Now, the Mumbai Indians will be given one more chance to increase their bid for Axar Patel, and if they do so, Delhi will have to match that bid with their RTM card; otherwise, the player will be sold to the Mumbai Indians.

How will a player be defined as uncapped or capped?

An Indian player who has played for the national team even once is known as a capped player. An uncapped player is someone who has yet to make his debut for the Indian national team and does not have a central contract with the BCCI.

However, from this year’s mega auction in the Indian Premier League, a capped Indian player will become uncapped if he has not played an international match (Test, ODI, T20I) in the last five years for the country preceding the year in which the relevant IPL season is held. The player will also become uncapped if he does not have a central contract with the BCCI.

This new rule amendment as per IPL News 2025 will allow the franchises to make a few smart decisions while cutting their costs.

How IPL Mega Auction Changes Could Impact the IPL 2025 Betting?

IPL Mega Auction & GUGOBET

As the Indian Premier League (IPL) gears up for the 2025 season, significant changes to auction and retention rules are set to transform the tournament. With the IPL 2025 mega auction on the horizon, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has proposed new rules that could shift team compositions and competitive balance. For those looking to navigate these changes, the IPL betting online platform GUGOBET offers an ideal solution to bet on IPL 2025, providing comprehensive betting options and live match features to keep you ahead in the game.

Changes to Retention Rules and Their Implications

Role of the RTM Card

As the IPL 2025 mega auction approaches, a significant change in the retention rules has been announced. Teams will be restricted to retaining only five players, along with one Right to Match (RTM) card. This RTM card allows a franchise to match the highest bid for a player from their previous squad, aiming to balance team compositions and prevent dominance by any single franchise.

The RTM card is a crucial aspect of the auction process. It enables franchises to retain key players by matching the highest bid offered by other teams. For example, if a player from a team’s previous squad receives a high bid from another franchise, the original team can use their RTM card to retain that player at the same price. This tool is vital for maintaining squad stability amidst substantial team changes.

Debate on RTM Card Structure

Discussions are ongoing about the RTM card structure for IPL 2025. The BCCI is considering a model with three pre-auction retention plus one RTM card. However, there are proposals for alternative formats, such as having no pre-auction retention but more RTM cards. These discussions will determine how teams can maintain player continuity and ensure fair market value.

Strategic Impact on Teams

The ability to retain key players with RTM cards will significantly impact team strategies. Teams that successfully use RTM cards will benefit from greater stability and cohesion, while those without retained stars will face challenges in adapting their squads. As the mega auction nears, final decisions on the RTM card structure will be made in upcoming BCCI meetings.

Debate Over ‘Uncapped Player’ Status

A key topic of debate in IPL 2025 discussions is the proposal to classify players who retired from international cricket for at least five years as ‘uncapped.’ This suggestion, introduced in recent meetings between IPL authorities and franchise owners, aims to revise the valuation of such players in the IPL 2025 mega auction. This change could significantly impact how these players are perceived and bid on during the auction.

Potential Impact on Player Valuation

Implementing this rule could shift how franchises value retired players. Some argue that these players should be auctioned based on current market dynamics rather than their past international status. This could lead to varied bidding patterns and potentially impact betting markets, as teams might view these entertainers as undervalued assets.

Adjustments to Base Prices

There is also a proposal to lower the base price for capped Indian players who have not played international cricket for several years. This change could make these players more appealing in the auction, influencing betting odds and team strategies as franchises look to take advantage of perceived bargains.

Opposition from Franchises

Several IPL franchises have expressed opposition to the idea of classifying retired players as uncapped. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s owner, Kavya Maran, has argued that such a move would be disrespectful and could set a poor precedent if these players received higher salaries than genuinely uncapped players. Maran suggested that retired players should enter the auction like any other player, allowing market dynamics to determine their value.

Chennai Super Kings’ Perspective

Reports indicated that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) might be pushing for this rule to retain MS Dhoni, whose international career ended nearly seven years ago. However, this rumor was dismissed, with it being clarified that Dhoni was retained for INR 12 crore in the last mega auction, while uncapped players were retained for significantly less.

Future of Retired Players

The final decision on whether retired players will be considered uncapped is still pending. Meanwhile, there is consensus among franchises that Indian players with long-term international retirement should have their base prices lowered. This adjustment, proposed by IPL COO Hemang Amin, aims to improve their chances of being bought at auction, addressing the issue of such players often going unsold due to high base prices.

Impact of Recent Auction Trends and Rule Proposals

Proposed Two-Year Ban on Overseas Players

The proposed ban seeks to address the issue of late withdrawals by overseas players, which have disrupted team strategies in the past. If implemented, this rule would enforce a two-year suspension for players who pull out of a season without a legitimate reason. This change is intended to stabilize team compositions and prevent disruptions that affect team performance and betting odds.

Changes in Auction Dynamics

Recent trends show that high-profile players often command significant bids, as seen with Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins fetching high prices in mini-auctions. With proposed adjustments to the IPL auction 2025, these dynamics are expected to shift, influencing how teams bid and impacting betting markets. Bettors should stay informed about these changes to accurately assess team prospects and player values in the upcoming IPL auction 2025.

Franchises’ Recommendations on Auction Registrations

During a meeting with the BCCI on July 31, IPL franchises suggested that overseas players should be required to register for mega auctions rather than just mini-auctions. This recommendation aims to address the problem of players skipping mega auctions and entering mini-auctions, where they often secure higher bids, thus impacting team planning and auction fairness.

Addressing System Gaming

Franchises have expressed concern about players and their managers manipulating the auction system. To counter this, they propose that established players should enter mega auctions and only be allowed to join mini-auctions if they go unsold. This measure is intended to ensure a fairer auction process and prevent players from exploiting the system to secure higher prices in subsequent auctions.

Challenges and Opportunities for Teams

Balancing Continuity and Innovation

Teams in the IPL face the challenge of balancing continuity with the need for innovation. Mega auctions provide a chance to refresh and realign squads, but they also disrupt long-term plans and player development. The debate centers around maintaining team identities versus fostering competitive balance, which impacts both team performance and betting strategies.

Investment in Youth and Scouting

The pressure to perform in the IPL Auction 2025 may deter teams from investing in youth development. However, franchises that successfully build strong scouting systems and nurture young talent are likely to benefit in the long run. Bettors should pay attention to teams that demonstrate a commitment to developing talent and maintaining a stable core, as these factors can lead to a more consistent and successful performance in the upcoming IPL auction 2025.

Potential Changes and Financial Considerations

The upcoming BCCI meeting will address several proposed changes, including the possibility of increasing the player purse and introducing salary increments for high-performing players. The salary cap for teams may rise from Rs 90 crores to Rs 130-140 crores, reflecting the increased number of matches and player expectations. Additionally, the option to renegotiate player salaries could help retain top talent and prevent poaching by other teams.

Navigating the Shifts

As the IPL 2025 mega auction approaches, significant rule changes are set to impact team strategies and betting patterns. New retention rules, including limits on player retention and changes to the RTM card, will affect how teams maintain stability and adapt to competitive balance. The debate over classifying retired players as ‘uncapped’ and adjusting base prices could also shift player valuations and bidding dynamics.

Teams will need to balance continuity with innovation, investing in youth development while navigating these auction changes. Proposed increases in salary caps and player purses aim to retain top talent and address poaching concerns, adding complexity for both team management and betting strategies. Staying informed about these developments will be crucial for making accurate predictions for the IPL 2025 season.
