Vaibhav Suryavanshi: The Story of a Young Prodigy

The photo has blog title and picture of Vaibhav Suryavanshi

In an era where cricketing careers are born in academies and moulded through years of rigorous preparation, Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s story feels refreshingly different. A 14-year-old from a small village in Bihar, he has captured the imagination of Indian cricket fans with his rare combination of raw power, composure, and confidence.

From the parched fields of Samastipur to the big stage of the Indian Premier League, this is not a journey of mere records, it’s a redefinition of what age itself signifies in sport. Breaking the record of being the youngest player in IPL history and then shattering a century within weeks, Vaibhav has made the unthinkable seem so easy, becoming the face of a new generation of Indian players who are bold and fearless.

Who is Vaibhav Suryavanshi?

Born on 27 March 2011 in the rural Bihar village of Tajpur, within the Samastipur district, Vaibhav Suryavanshi developed away from India’s packed cricket hotspots.

Vaibhav’s father, Sanjeev Suryavanshi, a farmer-turned-part-time-journalist, was the first to recognise his son’s innate talent for the sport. With no high-priced gear or professional coaching in the early days, Sanjeev trained Vaibhav himself, converting their backyard into a makeshift mini-cricket academy.

At the age of four, Vaibhav was already swinging a bat with accuracy. At nine, he enrolled in a cricket academy in Samastipur, where his showings in local tournaments started gaining notice. He then shifted to Muzaffarpur, where he trained at an indoor stadium while residing with relatives, a move that proved to be the turning point in his nascent career.

His coming of age arrived at the youth cricket level when he played for Bihar Under-19 in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy at the tender age of 12. Subsequently, he received the call-up to play for India B Under-19, where he had scored 177 runs in six matches, with two half-centuries in a quadrangular series. His finest moment came on his Under-19 Test debut against Australia, when he pulverised a 58-ball century — the quickest by an Indian in youth Tests and the second-quickest in Under-19 international history.

That innings transformed everything. Rajasthan Royals scouts were quick to spot his clean hitting and temperament. In November 2024, he was the youngest player ever in IPL history to receive a contract, signed up by Rajasthan for ₹1.1 crore at just 13 years of age. His path from a village wonderkid to a franchise player became the subject of discussion in Indian cricket.

By April 2025, the globe at last got to see what the buzz was all about. Vaibhav made his IPL debut against Lucknow Super Giants on April 19 and scored 34 off 20 balls, including a first-ball six that created social media mania. Just days after that, on April 28, he made his name in history once more by scoring 101 off 38 balls against Gujarat Titans, becoming the youngest-ever IPL centurion at 14 years and 32 days — a record that can last for decades.

Rise and Breakthrough in IPL 2025

The 2025 IPL season will always be remembered as the one during which Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his entry into the world. Though the Rajasthan Royals already had stars such as Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Riyan Parag, it was the 14-year-old who became their biggest star.

Vaibhav’s innings against the Gujarat Titans on April 28 was fairy-tale stuff. Coming in at No. 3, he demonstrated maturity beyond his years. He hit shots both sides of the wicket — the signature lofted cover drives, courageous scoops, and a string of unforced sixes over midwicket. His century off 35 balls was only the second-fastest in IPL history, behind only Chris Gayle’s 30-ball innings.

That innings wasn’t just about records; it was about aura. Even experienced bowlers looked clueless as the youngest player in IPL history toyed with the field, rotating strike smartly and punishing loose balls without hesitation. Every shot carried a sense of purpose, a mix of technique and instinct that made fans sit up and take notice.

He ended the season of 2025 with 252 runs off 7 matches at a strike rate of 206.56 with 18 fours and 24 sixes. His composure and calmness under pressure, particularly against strong attacks, saw him win the Emerging Player of IPL 2025 award — an honour that represented the emergence of a new star.

But above the statistics, what was also noticeable was his temperament. With all the seniors, he was the youngest in the dressing room, but Vaibhav, already hailed as the youngest cricketer to make such an impact at this level, remained disciplined and inquisitive. He would spend hours with seniors discussing shot choice and match insight.

Sanju Samson subsequently disclosed in an interview that Vaibhav’s confidence also brought him back to the time when there was a young Virat Kohli, driven, fearless, and ultra-competitive.

Even his rivals admitted his unique talent. Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill stated, “At the age of 14, to play with that much authority against the big bowlers — that’s a rare thing. He’s extraordinary.”

The Future: A Star in the Making

The emergence of Vaibhav Suryavanshi has sparked renewed enthusiasm for India’s future generation of cricketers. Social media celebrates him as the “boy wonder” and “Bihar’s pride,” while pundits feel his early success may prove to be the blueprint for India’s future batting lineup. However, with all the glamour, Vaibhav is down to earth — a trait learned from his modest upbringing.

His fans love him not only for his batting but also for his tale. Hailing from a rural farming family with fewer resources and no initial exposure to the top academies, he personifies the soul of Indian cricket — where dreams are nurtured in small towns and pursued with unrelenting perseverance.

But what with all the labelling as the youngest cricketer also comes great expectations. All his runs and all his shots are now subjected to scrutiny. There have even been arguments regarding his age authenticity, but his father has gone out of his way to explain that Vaibhav’s records have been certified by the BCCI. Amidst all the hubbub, the young man stays grounded, frequently being quoted in interviews as saying, “I just want to enjoy cricket and keep improving.”

His performances across mediums already suggest an all-rounder development graph. In first-class cricket, he’s adapting to longer formats, while his success in T20S demonstrates his flair. His List A career, with a composed 71-run innings against Madhya Pradesh, demonstrates increasing maturity in managing his innings.

What makes him stand out, however, is his attitude. Whether in training with Rajasthan Royals or playing for Bihar in domestic cricket, Vaibhav does so with the same ferocity. His coaches say that he is a “student of the game” who analyses bowlers for hours and tries out new shots.

As he develops, comparisons with young legends such as Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli are unavoidable. But Vaibhav’s tale is his alone, a mix of rustic determination and contemporary élan.

At only 14, he has already accomplished what others can aspire to: a first-class debut at 12, a national Under-19 cap at 13, and an IPL century at 14. These achievements within such a limited time frame highlight the making of a phenomenon.

Ahead lies a challenging course. The test for Vaibhav will be to rein in expectations and stay grounded as he makes the transition from teenage phenom to pro sportsman. But if his initial indicators are anything to go by, Indian cricket’s future appears to be in extremely capable hands.

In a nation where cricket is not only a game but a sentiment, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is the dream of every small-town lad who dares to dream big. The youngest player ever in the history of IPL has already demonstrated that talent does not recognise age, and IPL 2025’s new star player now represents what can be achieved when passion and opportunity collide.

Which IPL team is the best?

The most lucrative cricket league in the world, Indian Premier League, is getting better and better. The 17th edition is in full swing and half of the tournament is over. Rajasthan Royals are the current leaders having won 8 matches while Royal Challengers Bengaluru are still struggling down at the bottom of the standings with 3 wins. The impact sub-rule which was introduced last year is getting plenty of attention this season and the teams have made complete use of it as a result we are witnessing the excess of 250 plus scores consistently.

Understanding that IPL has a rich fan base and to garner their attention, the surfaces are usually flat and the runs will automatically flow. Having struggled all these years, bowlers got some sort of advantage with two bouncers per over but that didn’t click to the fullest. Plenty of things have changed over the last 16 years but the craze of the fans remains the same.

Here in this article, we will discuss how the teams have performed over the last 16 years in our IPL betting online platform. Do follow our website for more content related to IPL Prediction 2024.

IPL History

India lifted the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup back in 2007 under the leadership of MS Dhoni and the celebrations went wild throughout the country. This prompted the BCCI to counter the rebel Indian Cricket League and they started a franchise-based T20 League named Indian Premier League in 2008. Initially, it was an eight-team tournament featuring Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Kolkata Knight Riders, Punjab Kings, Delhi Daredevils, Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, and Deccan Chargers.

Following the success in the first two years, allowed BCCI to expand the league to 10 teams in the 2011 edition with Kochi Tuskers and Pune Warriors coming as the new entrants. Kochi Tuskers sustained only one season and was terminated by the BCCI while Pune Warriors dropped themselves out of the League in 2013.

Gujarat Lions and Raising Pune Super Giants replaced Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals in the 2016 and 2017 editions who were suspended due to spot-fixing scandals.

When the League was played under closed doors in 2020 in UAE due to covid pandemic, there was a considerable spike in the viewership which led BCCI to expand the league to 10 teams once again. Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants won the bids and made their league debuts in 2022.

Teams Journey Thus Far in IPL

Royal Challengers Bengaluru:

The franchise based out of Bengaluru has the most passionate and loyal fans, though their team hasn’t won the title since the tournament’s inception in 2008. M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru is their home venue. As a team, they suffered more failures than successes throughout their entire IPL campaign. They fell short of winning the title by the barest of margins thrice when they reached the finals in 2009, 2011, and 2016. Challengers held the highest IPL Team score of 263 until 2024 which was broken by Sunrisers Hyderabad the same year.

Indian cricketing legend Rahul Dravid was their first captain who led the side in 2008 but the side failed under him completely and they ended up finishing 7th in the table with only 4 wins. Kevin Pietersen, Anil Kumble, Daniel Vettori, Virat Kohli, Shane Watson, and Faf du Plessis are the other players to lead the franchise. Their best season came in the year 2016 but they lost in the finals against Sunrisers Hyderabad by mere 8 runs. Skipper Virat Kohli enjoyed a dream run, smashing 973 runs in 16 matches that included 4 centuries and 7 half-centuries.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Co-owned by Bollywood stars Shahrukh Khan and Juhi Chawla, Kolkata Knight Riders rank themselves as the 3rd best team in the IPL having won the title in 2012 and 2014. They didn’t enjoy a great run in the first three years as they ended up in the league stages. Sourav Ganguly was their icon player who led the side in 2008 and 2010. Brendon McCullum, Gautam Gambhir, Jacques Kallis, Dinesh Karthik, Eoin Morgan, Shreyas Iyer, and Nitish Rana are the other players to lead the side.

Things started to change when they brought Gautam Gambhir in the 2011 auction and the batter from Delhi provided a good result taking the side to the Playoffs in his very first season for the franchise followed by a successful campaign in 2012 where they clinched the title for the first time beating Chennai Super Kings in the finals at Chepauk. They lifted their 2nd title in 2014 when they outsmarted Punjab Kings in the summit clash at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

They came close to their 3rd IPL title in 2021 but they lost to Chennai Super Kings in the finals by 27 runs. In the ongoing 2024 edition, they are doing well, winning 6 of their 9 matches to place themselves 2nd in the standings with 12 points.

Knight Riders ranked 3rd among the IPL Teams following their performances over the years.

Yellow Brigade is one of the consistent performers and undoubtedly the best team in IPL history. They won the title 5 times and ended up as runners on 5 occasions. 2020 and 2022 are the only two years where they finished in the league stages. MS Dhoni is the only player to be with the franchise since 2008, he led the side in 235 matches and has a 60.42 winning record. Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ruturaj Gaikwad are the other players to lead the franchise.

MS Dhoni passed his captaincy baton to Ruturaj Gaikwad in the ongoing 2024 edition where they currently placed 3rd in the standings with 10 points.

Mumbai Indians

The Mumbai Indians franchise is owned by India’s most successful businessman Mukesh Ambani. They have won the joint most titles in IPL with 5 to their name. Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai is their home venue. Mumbai Indians’ journey didn’t begin well in the first two seasons as they settled for league stages and their success started in 2010 when they ended up as runners-up losing to Chennai Super Kings. They crowned champions for the first time in 2013 under Rohit Sharma and later went on to win the titles in 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020. For all these records, we can easily say Mumbai Indians are one of the best teams in the IPL.

Having not got the desired results in the 2021, 2022, and 2023 seasons, the management took a tough call to change their skipper in 2024, Hardik Pandya who was traded to the franchise from Gujarat Titans appointed as their new captain.

It’s advisable not to bet on Mumbai Indians going all the way to the Playoffs in the 2024 edition on our IPL betting online platform.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad is owned by Kalanithi Maran and the team took part in the IPL for the first time in 2013. Sunrisers Hyderabad came on board when Deccan Chargers were terminated from the league in 2012. In their debut season, they made a giant stride to qualify for the playoffs. The team got their breakthrough when they emerged champions in 2016 beating Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the finals. They enjoyed a great run between 2017-2020, managing to qualify for the playoffs. In 2021, their downfall started and didn’t go well in the next two seasons as they settled for League stages.

The franchise is currently doing well in the 2024 edition, under newly appointed skipper Pat Cummins and Head Coach Daniel Vettori. Kumar Sangakkara, Cameron White, Shikhar Dhawan, Darren Sammy, David Warner, Kane Williamson, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Manish Pandey, and Aiden Markram are the captains to lead the team in the previous years. Sunrisers Hyderabad holds the highest team total in the IPL, registering 287 runs against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals didn’t have great success in the IPL, apart from clinching the title in the inaugural season they managed to qualify for the playoffs only on four occasions later on. They made it to the finals for the second time in 2022 and eventually got beaten at the hands of Gujarat Titans.

They were suspended for match-fixing allegations in the 2016 and 2017 editions. Shane Warne, Rahul Dravid, Shane Watson, Steven Smith, and Ajinkya Rahane have led the side in different years. Sanju Samson is the current skipper and under him the side is doing exceptionally well, winning 8 of their 9 matches to occupy the top position in the standings.

Delhi Capitals

Delhi Daredevils rebranded as Delhi Capitals when JSW Sports bought the 50 per cent stake in 2018. The franchise plays its home games in Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. The Capitals haven’t had great success in the league’s history. Their best result to date is qualifying for the finals in 2020 where they lost to Mumbai Indians. They lost in the Semi-Finals in the first two seasons and entered the Playoffs in 2012, 2019, and 2021. Between 2013-2018 they were consistently poor and settled for the league stages.

Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Dinesh Karthik, James Hopes, Mahela Jayawardene, Ross Taylor, David Warner, Kevin Pietersen, JP Duminy, Zaheer Khan, Karun Nair, Shreyas Iyer have led the side. Rishabh Pant and Ricky Ponting are their current skipper and Head Coach respectively.

In the remaining editions, they ended up in the league stages. Kings have used as many as 15 skippers to date which is the most by any team in the IPL. They shifted their new home to Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur this year from I.S Bindra Punjab Cricket Association Stadium.

In the ongoing season, they are currently placed 8th in the standings with 6 points.

Gujarat Titans

Owned by CVC Capital Partners, the Gujarat Titans franchise made their first IPL appearance in the 2022 edition and made history in the inaugural edition to be crowned as champions beating Rajasthan Royals in the finals at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium. Hardik Pandya’s captaincy gained a lot of appreciation as he led the side to the title in his first stint as the skipper. Titans backed up their performance in the following edition but missed out on winning back-to-back titles with a last-ball defeat to Chennai Super Kings in the 2023 finals.

They missed the services of Hardik Pandya for the 2024 edition after a record-breaking trade with Mumbai Indians. They are struggling in the current season with 4 wins under their belt from 10 matches.

Rajasthan Royals Team Analysis for IPL Betting Online

The excitement for the forthcoming Indian Premier League season is at an all-time high, and we are excitedly anticipating the start of the 17th season of the most magnificent and entertaining domestic Twenty20 league in the world. Because the IPL also heralds the IPL betting online season, GUGOBET is here to offer IPL online betting tips and IPL team analysis 2024.

As part of our IPL online betting recommendations, we also try to predict an x-factor player for each team and ascertain their best probable playing eleven to make IPL betting online easier for you.

In this article, we will be providing an analysis of the Rajasthan Royals team and how they are shaped for the upcoming g IPL 2024 season.  When the Indian Premier League (IPL) was first played in 2008, few cricket pundits predicted Rajasthan Royals (RR) to win the championship. But the players’ tenacity and Shane Warne’s magnificent leadership made the Royals the first IPL champions.

Rajasthan Royals Players

The Rajasthan Royals players have always been loyal to their franchise and their fan base. They boast a good level of consistency for the upcoming IPL 2024 edition. The Royals were one of the favourites to win the championship in 2023, but they were unable to make it to the playoffs.

The management of the RR squad purchased five players in the 2024 Dubai auction in advance of the competition, with the Men in Pink hoping to win the prized trophy. Rovman Powell was the most expensive acquisition made by the Royals, having cost the team INR 7.4 crore. They also acquired Nandre Burger, a left-arm pacer from South Africa, in addition to Powell.

The Rajasthan Royals’ players will be up and raring to go for the upcoming IPL season as a lot of pressure will be on them to deliver this season. One can surely rely on them during the IPL betting online season on our website and cricket app, GUGOBET.com as they are one of the strongest sides this IPL 2024.

Rajasthan Royals Team

Strengths:

The Rajasthan Royals team boasts excellent batters in Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, and Jos Buttler. With 625 runs in 14 games and an incredible strike rate of 163.61, Jaiswal finished as the fifth-highest run scorer in the previous season despite his impressive hitting display. Although Buttler was unable to have a successful season in 2023, he will try to support Jaiswal in 2024.

To bolster the team’s top order, captain Sanju Samson will have to play at the third position and support both openers. Buttler and Samson have both been a part of the RR team since 2018, and their extensive backgrounds lend them credibility to the group.

Adam Zampa, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Yuzvendra Chahal are the members of the RR team. There is no need for an introduction to these outstanding players. The three spinners are most known for getting batters to dance to their songs, and they have all participated in a significant amount of international cricket.

During the 2023 World Cup, Zampa proved his bowling prowess, taking 23 wickets at an economy of 5.36 in 11 games. Having taken the second most wickets in Australia’s sixth title victory, the 31-year-old finished second. Speaking of Ashwin and Chahal, these two legendary players from India are accustomed to Indian conditions and could cause hitters issues.

Weaknesses:

Before the 2024 auction, the Rajasthan Royals team parted ties with West Indies player Jason Holder. As a result, the team now only possesses Ashwin as an all-rounder. Every team will field at least two excellent all-rounders in the 2024 IPL, while Rajasthan will only field one player in this capacity.

The form of RR’s key players will be their biggest worry. Jos Buttler hasn’t appeared to be a reliable batter since October 2023. The veteran recently scored three fifties versus the West Indies, but those innings do not indicate that he is back to his previous level of play.

In addition, Prasidh Krishna, who is scheduled to return for RR in 2024, lacks rhythm. Throughout the five-match T20 International (T20I) series against Australia, he was unruly and extravagant with the ball. For the Royals in 2024, the underwhelming play of two important players could pose a problem.

Even before the 2024 IPL auction, the RR team was pretty formidable, and it appears they added some reserves in case someone got hurt. Their lineup for the 2024 Indian Premier League promises to be very intriguing. The team will be captained by Sanju Samson, and their head coach is Kumar Sangakkara.

Indian international cricket player Sanju Viswanath Samson represents the Rajasthan Royals during the Indian Premier League and Kerala in local cricket. He also was the vice-captain of the Indian U-19 team in the 2014 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He is a right-handed wicketkeeper-batter. He will have immense pressure on him as the Rajasthan Royals captain for the IPL 2024 season and it remains to be seen how he delivers on the field with his teammates.

Rajasthan Royals squad 2024

During the IPL 2024 auction held in Dubai, the Rajasthan Royals became the very first club to add a player to their roster as they paid Rs. 7.40 crore to acquire West Indies batsman Rovman Powell. The Rajasthan Royals squad this upcoming IPL 2024 season is quite strong with mostly all the areas covered.

After that, though, the team wasn’t overly busy and only recruited four more players to its squad. When it paid Rs. 5.8 crore for power-hitter Shubham Dubey, an Indian middle-order batter, made headlines. It acquired South African left-arm fast bowler Nandre Burger for his basic price of Rs. 50 lakh, adding a useful left-arm pacer to its roster.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Abid Mushtaq are all-round players.

Rajasthan Royals possible Xl: Jos Buttler, Yasashvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson (c) (wk), R. Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, Shimron Hetmyer, Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag, and Rovman Powell.

Rajasthan Royals X-factor player

The Rajasthan Royals are one of the best teams in the IPl thanks to their pool of talented players. Yashasvi Jaiswal, however, is the x-factor player in this RR lineup according to our IPL online betting advice in our part dedicated to IPL team analysis 2024.

This season, Jaiswal, a top-tier batsman who is now perhaps the most in-form player in international cricket, will be representing the league in the RR jersey. He is a player who can bat and hard-hit in any situation, and he is one who always delivers for his side.

Who is the best player in Rajasthan Royals?

If anything, this RR team consists of champion players right from the top to the bottom, and all of them are match winners in themselves. They have players who can change the course of the game pretty quickly and get two points for their team in any situation. Players such as Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Trent Boult, Shimron Hetmyer, etc. are all capable of being the best player or the x-factor for them this season.

But the experts on our IPL betting online app said that the best player should be someone you expect to perform well in all 14 league matches and then the playoffs. He should be someone who has a lot of experience, and hence, we think that the player for RR is Yuzvendra Chahal.

Chahal has a lot of wickets in the IPL, has won the purple cap as well, is one of the best leg spinners in T20 cricket, and is a very clever bowler. He is someone you can use as your trump card, and the player bails you out of difficult situations. Yuzvendra Chahal is a game-changer and would be RR’s best player in IPL 2024.

Who is the RR coach in IPL 2024?

Just like the Rajasthan Royals team has had various players captain their side since the inaugural season of the IPL, a lot of coaches, both domestic and overseas, have come and been the head of the support staff of the Rajasthan team.

This year, Kumar Sangakkara, a former Rajasthan Royals player, will be the head coach of the Rajasthan Royals franchise in the IPL 2024 season. He will also act as their director of cricket for this forthcoming IPL edition.
